Monolophosaurus
Monolophosaurus ("one-crested lizard") was a carnosaur from Late Jurassic (about 170 mya) China. It was named for the single crest on top of its skull. It could grow to be 17 feet (5 meters) long and 6 feet (2 meters) high. This dinosaur weighed up to 1500 pounds (700 kg). The area that Monolophosaurus was found showed signs of water, so it is possible that this dinosaur lived on the shore of lakes or ocean. Monolophosaurus may be related to the allosaurids.

A nearly complete skeleton was unearthed in 1984, and described by Currie and Zhao. At first, before description, it was known in the press as "Jiangjunmiaosaurus", a nomen nudum.
