뿌시코제 삼엽충은 파콥피다목으로 모로코 엘리프 근교의 데본기지층인 함마르 레가다드에서 발굴되었다. 표본은 잘 보존 된 파콥피다의 복안이 있으며 가장 주목할만한 특징은 뿔처럼 돌기된 부분으로 현재 발견되고 있는 종들은 일체형이지만 표본은 두 개로 갈라진 신종이다. 아직까지 종은 확인할 수 없다. 모로코의 삼엽충이 이렇게 정교하게 발굴되어진 것은 불과 4~5년 전부터이다. 이들 발굴복원전문가들은 프랑스에서 공부한 이들로 장비를 진동을 이용하는 전기 햄머 방식에서 샌딩 방식으로 전환하면서 가능해졌다. 당연한 말이지만 시간은 2~3배 더 들어가지만 덕분에 더욱 정교한 복원작업을 할 수 있게 되었다. 이 삼엽충의 앞부분 삽처럼 생긴 돌기는 여러 이론이 있지만 바다 바닥을 파고 먹이를 취하는 기능과 천적으로부터 몸을 숨길 때 사용했을 것으로 보는 두 가지의 시각이 있다. 아직 다른 나라의 지층에서는 발견되고 있지 않기 때문에 더 많은 연구가 필요한 종이다. 또한 희귀 종으로 비싼 가격에 거래되므로 가짜 표본이 많은 종이기도 하다. 화석을 좋아하는 입장에서 이러한 표본을 소개할 수 있어서 매우 기쁘게 생각한다.

Another uncommon trilobite from my collection for sale here. Fully prepared with spines exposed down the center of the Axial ribs, this is either a P. elegans sub-species... or juvenile, or possibly sexual dimopohism within the species, since the outer spines are not there nor formed on this specimen, the mind can only speculate about these amazing fossils! Often on these the spines are broken off during poor amateur preparation, this specimen was worked with a lot of care and it shows in the details present. Over 25+ hours of labor are represented here alone on preparation, very dedicated work!

Laid out nicely and mostly flat, in an encroaching position, this is the position top collectors look for, if not perfectly flat! It would make a wonderful specimen for any top quality museum collection or make one striking center piece for the amateur paleontologist. This specimen also has amazing eye preservation! Predator or filter feeder with that long snout, this is a fierce looking trilobite. Great details on the snout as well with pustules in formation. Could go on but pictures tell the entire story!
